Supporting a natural curiosity on the journey to independence.
Our year-round program for the one year old child offers a unique year of self-development in a home-like setting that nurtures the spirit while encouraging growth and independence. Our toddler Montessori guide specializes in needs related to this age group like autonomy, separation, and toilet training. Through close cooperation between home and school, toddlers are gradually able to separate from their parents.
All that we ourselves are has been made by the child, by the child we were in the first two years of our lives.
– Dr. Maria Montessori
We support the child’s natural development by placing focus on the encouragement of independence. Through these interactions, toddlers begin to form their character, self-esteem, purpose of life, social and emotional skills, and learning processes.
The toddler classroom focuses on practical life exercises, activities for sensorimotor development, language development, and experiences in art and sciences. The classroom is designed intentionally so children can choose and move about independently. Montessori materials and activities help toddlers to begin experiencing the concepts of sequence, form, shape, movement, and sound. The materials and activities change and evolve as the child grows.

An Average Day
Arrival
Children are dropped off at the door. They bring their labeled water bottle and spare set of clothes each day.
Morning work period
Children interact with guides and peers in small group settings, or may choose to work independently from the shelves.
Outdoor play
After enjoying a nutritious snack, children may nap according to their sleep needs or move outside to engage in movement. We roll balls, chase bubbles, participate in dancing and games, and engage in sensory play.
Lunch
Lunch is a time to learn about different foods and develop social skills. Children are offered a healthy organic lunch as well as a rotating menu of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Quiet time
The classroom is darkened and children sleep. We accommodate children who are not yet self-settlers.
Afternoon work period
After a resftul sleep and healthy snack, children often head outside for more exploration focused on motor skills and social development and then return inside for open-ended play.

The benefits of extended exposure
Children benefit the most from Montessori when attending daily for the full academic day, and remain with us for the full developmental stage. This allows for individual and social development, helping children to achieve their full potential.
